Mindfulness

New and exciting things are happening at Lewis and Clark! Students and staff are learning about the power of mindfulness and how to incorporate it into the school day.
Classroom counseling lessons focused on learning about the “upstairs brain” and the “downstairs brain”. The students learned about the different functions of those areas of the brain; what can trigger people into their “downstairs brains”; what happens psychologically and physiologically when people are in either brain; and how to use mindful breathing techniques to re-engage the “upstairs brain.” Ask your child to share what they learned with you!
